Daimler V8 headlining

Postby Doherto » Sat Feb 18, 2023 4:53 pm

I am at the stage in my project where I am about to take out the old headlining for replacement. I have done this before on my Mk2 but that was different as the headliner was supported under tension on cross rails and eyelets in the headliner. Looking at the Daimler it appears to have a material stuck onto a board/matting which I assume is stuck to the inside of the roof. Before I start I thought it prudent to ask for any guidance on here from someone with more knowledge than I currently have. Any help appreciated. Tony D

Hello Tony,

I find that rather strange but I have no knowledge specifically for the Daimler? Why would Jaguar use two different systems when both models were being made concurrently?

I would ask your headlining supplier as they should have the knowledge to advise you.

Pieman, I have today taken off my sagging headliner and the picture shows the 10 frames, (two pieces on each side, placed on top of each other) which form the framing around the actual headliner which is just stuck to a board on the roof. Curiously though the fittings on the cant rails for the suspended type headliner in the Mk2 are also there. Perhaps I'll cheat and fit one of those, if I can find the the crossmembers to support it. Perhaps.
