Leather Colour

I am refurbishing the front seats of my 1996 Celebration. The general leather is parchment and the piping sage green. I have all the kit and the parchment colour (from Furniture Clinic) but I can't find a dye for the sage green piping anywhere.

Does anyone know of a supplier who can match the original Sage Green colour? The code is, I think, HFA.

Hi Tintin - glad to hear that you're going to have a go yourself. As long as you're patient and prepare the leather well you'll get good results.
As for the piping, as I understand it this may not be leather but vinyl so a different kind of paint may be needed? Also this is a high-wear area and I've found that leather paint can wear away quickly.
It would be worth a call to Furniture Clinic - they say they can match any colour! They may also advise on the right kind of paint to use.
Regards
David

Thanks David - that's good advice.

I prepped the leather, including the piping, with Acetone, Alcohol and a scotch pad; the preparation disclosed the full extent of the poor quality of the earlier re-colouring which took a while to strip off. Then I masked up the piping and peripherals and sprayed on the general colour. Even though the masking was carefully applied some overspray reached the piping - which I now have to re-colour.

I have found Sage Green HFA at Bespoke Leathering of Birmingham. They were really helpful. The vinyl piping needs a special 2 part prep to improve adhesion before applying the colour. The bad news is that the colour has to be specially mixed and will take a week to arrive - but looking good so far and I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

Thanks for your encouragement!
