My Experience And Review Of Grange Barnet ( Service )

Just a update and a follow on from my service last Friday with Grange Barnet.I arrived at the newly updated showroom and service Centre now together and had a warm welcome from the lady on the reception desk. She first asked my name then asked if i wanted coffee or tea which i did, she then took me over to another area where i sat down and was guided through what was going to happen to my car while it as in for a service. Once this was completed i sat back in the nice rest area drinking my coffee and watching TV and looking over the new cars on show.

To be fair i was very impressed with the new building before it was not very nice and i always avoided this dealer service and started to use Rockar in Stratford which again had not been opened very long but the service they offer is good. My car had a full health check and found a couple of minor issues which need looking at.

However my experience of Grange Jaguar has definitely changed my mind and i would recommend them if you live or not too far from Barnet in North West London. For me i use Grange because i have a service warranty with them it is a long drive for me from South London all the way to Barnet which can take 2 hours with the traffic so for anything else i use Rockar in Stratford but wanted to share my experience with you guys and would love to hear your Jag dealer reviews or a independent jaguar specialist.

I'm pleased to hear you have had a good experience. My local Leeds Farnell Dealer is in a new facility which is good but I prefer the Wakefield Hatfield's dealership due to the great service they provide.

I need some new tyres and brakes for the F-Type and new tyres possibly on the XJ so I'll keep you posted as the services aren't due until January and March.

Great to hear about good service at a Main Dealer.

I maintain my car myself. It never goes to a Main Dealer because I can`t afford it and I`ve a ex-Main Dealer serviced car...Yes, they do service them to a point...usually oils and filters and report on the occasional visable issue...as long as it doesn`t take them too long or involve too much effort.


My ex Main Dealer car was deficient at 78k miles as I bought it. It had an MOT. Goodness knows how. Many bushes knacked, filthy oil and air filters, diff and supercharger oil finished. No written evidence of 60k gearbox and filter change. Rear discs clapped, hand brake partialy seized, supercharger valley hose about to explode, front pads on the limit. Inspected and found good 4k earlier. Mnnnn. Best advice, what hasn`t been looked at.

I report as I found. Forget the big smiles, bacon butties, coffee, corporate uniforms, chome, marble and bull dust. Let me talk to the technician dealing with my car. Stamped logs mean nothing exept the odd oil and filter has beeen changed. Show me an invoice for "out of normal service" aditional items. Then you might convince me.

Hi J44EAG i brought my XJ second hand full jag dealer service history the first job i did was to change the gearbox oil this was done at Les Paul independant which i have used in the passed with my old X358.I did asked the dealer what the cost would be for this but the quote was very expensive in the end Les Pauls completed the job for around 400 including the VAT if i remember right i know its not a 5 min job.

An excellent principle. Personally I delegate work in the following order:-

1 Myself
2 A known and trusted independent who a) I can speak with b) Shows me the parts he has replaced c) Lets me supply parts and fluids if I want d) Takes a pragmatic approach
3 Main dealer - only to access any essential computer re-programming or diagnostics.
