All, below is notification of a proposed XJS time line at Western day 2015, I have made this a new thread so as it does not get lost elsewhere



The Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club are holding their first ever 'Western Weekend' (Western as in West of England, not Cowboys and Indians!) at Bodelwyddan Castle, Denbighshire from 25th to 27th September this year.

A major part of this event will celebrate 40 years since the launch of the XJ-S in September 1975, so we wish to create an XJS Timeline on Sunday 27th September.

We need as many different variants of XJS in the timeline as possible.

If you would like to join our XJS Timeline with your XJS, please contact Letitia.mace@jec.org.uk with the following details and a good quality photo.

1. Name

2. Contact mobile tel number

3. JEC membership number

4. Full Chassis Number

5. Model Year

6. Body type: Coupe, Cabriolet, Convertible and Convertible 2+2

7. Engine: Pre HE, Pre HE P Digital, HE, 3.6, 4.0, 5.3, 6.0

8. Transmission: manual, auto

9. Any conversions/change from original specification

10. Is this a standard XJS or one of the following variants?

11. Celebration, Insignia, XJR-S, TWR, JaguarSport, Celebration Le Mans, Asprey, Lister Le Mans, Lynx Eventer, Arden, Burlet, Dulait Ortoni or Ateliers Reunis, Lynx Spyder, Guy Salmon Jubilee, Railton F28 Fairmile, Hess & Eisenhardt Convertible, Paul Bailey Monaco, Paul Banham, Koenig, Hyper.

12. Other variant, not listed above, such as an XJS that is currently being used for racing, or any other non-factory conversion, one-off or otherwise.

In most instances inclusion in the Timeline will be on a first come first served basis, the primary example being the one whose owner contacts me first and with reserve cars joining the main line up only if the primary example fails to arrive on time on the day, or at my discretion.

All other examples will join a dedicated XJS area - let's see how many we can gather on the day to celebrate this 40 year landmark!

If your XJS is chosen for the Timeline you are committed to arriving by 8.45am at the latest and you will not be allowed to remove your car before 4pm. Your XJS cannot be removed for Concours or Pride & Joy judging, or other reasons.

If you own an XJS of any description, we hope you will join us for the weekend, or at least Sunday the 27th.

WE NEED YOUR CARS !!!

after talking to Letitia on Saturday its clear we need a lot more members to come forward to put their cars into the timeline of XJS production

Letitia is looking for one of each type of xis by VIN , and possibly a ' backup car ' for any members that can't make it on the day for whatever reason

for now the cars will be in order of VIN , but we also need ' variant ' models to be included by third party bodyshops and performance shops (TWR and Lister for example ) these have a VIN , but may well be included in a slightly different order, but thats for Letitia to confirm

I will be putting my own XJS forward , No 158771 , wherever that fits in , but its all about having a bit of fun and creating a great feature for the show

so come on and put your name in the ring

Letitia needs some basic info filled out for each car that the owners can do to save some time and administration

this is a members event , and we need members to take part to make it successful and fun

i have had an email from Letitia confirming that this is NOT a concourse condition event , we need representatives of all the different types of XJS's

and in my opinion, if its taxed and tested and can drive there, then its good enough to be in the display

so don't hold back , we need you all

and don't forget, its about being part of something, and having fun,

so if we don't get involved we can't complain that nothing gets organised for us

just a quick update about the timeline

Letitia has emailed me and is pleased with the response so far and has managed to fill some places as required

but she still needs many more XJS owners to come forward and offer their cars for the timeline, she is particularly after ' original ' cars as they were delivered , with minimal customisation and alterations later in life , so the timeline is as accurate as it can be

she is after very early cars without hood ornaments and blacked out boot lid sections etc,

there is a section for ' modified ' cars like my own , but this is filling more rapidly than the standard cars

is there a KWE owner out there that is willing to put the car forward , its a hole we need to fill

please be aware , Letitia would rather have a slightly ' shabby ' original car, than a full concourse altered car


this is our clubs show, this is about our cars, and if WE don't display our cars, there won't be a display to see

so put your name and car forward and have some fun on the day

All ready to go after a bit of polishing of course!

So how did the timeline go? Someone must have some details and pictures.

48 cars in total, one no show, so the reserve got moved into a slot, a great turnout and thanks to all the owners who came from far and wide including, Belgium, France and Russia
