Yes would love to have an annual XJS meet and an excuse for a decent long run.
Somewhere central would hopefully suit most. Should consider something for the ladies to do to if they are not petrol heads.

Hi Norman Some great ideas! Would like to support both of these in principle. Will need to get management approval obviously!

Cheers, Gordon

Dear All

Apologies for bumping this up but here we are in 2008 and if we want an early meet-up, now is the time to sort it.

For the first meeting, so far it seems to be a choice between Browns Lane JDHT Museum or Castle Bromwich factory tour. I would suggest the former as we don't know how long it will be available to visit after TATA take all the motors to India (previous comments re lack of refreshments noted, tho' with a bit of luck a decent Tandoori Chicken may be available), perhaps it will just have to be a flask of coffee and a sandwich in the car park, or what remains of it.........

Re Dates, in order to give us all a chance to sort ourselves out, how about mid February......9th. 16th. 23rd, or is that too soon???

All those who have expressed an interest please DO respond to this post so that we can discuss the options and move ahead. Perhaps if we make it to the first meeting we can discuss how to move forward from there?

V Best Wishes

Count me in on 9th or 23rd Feb. Can't do 16th though. Last time I went to JDHT Museum I was the only person there! It would be great to go with some like minded people. Looking forward to meeting you all! :)

any of those dates should be fine by me, hopefully we should get a few more 'signing up' to make it a worthwhile visit.

Dear All

DATES COCK-UP :oops:

My Apologies................due to over enthusiasm (and lack of background research) I ASSUMED the Museum was open on Saturdays....in fact it ISN'T. ( I know, brewery, piss-up...........)

Apart from weekdays it is only open the LAST SUNDAY of the Month. (Don't ask me why :? )

Soooooo.................may I suggest we be there Sunday 24th February ?

This is six weeks away which I hope will give everyone time to look at (or alter) their diary committments and confirm, or otherwise.........asap :shock:

Sorry to be a Silly Old Hector :cry:

Can someone just check that the museum is open on the 24th and confirm the times, as I understand that it doesn't always open on Sundays?
FYI - the following are possible venues to meet up before/ afterwards for a coffee and or bite to eat;

Beefeater, Balsall Common* - 8 miles/20 mins
Harvester, Coventry* - 6 miles/15 mins
Little Chef, Dunchurch*# - 10 miles/ 20 mins
McDonalds, Coventry*# - (at least the coffee is ok!) - 3 miles/ 10 mins
Burger King, Coventry #- 4 miles/ 12 mins
TGI Fridays, Coventry* - 8 miles/ 20 mins

* = good parking available.
# = open early on Sundays I believe.

Those interested in meeting up, perhaps your thoughts on an early coffee venue or late lunch? Lets see if we can get general agreement on somewhere. Hope this helps! :lol:

sahtas1

You're ahead of me!
I hoped to ring Tony O'Keefe at JDHT today to confirm opening on 24th, check tour/guide availability/info. and get details. on local eats venues!

However had a v. busy day at work - 2.5 hour test flight and post flight checks etc. so didn't have time to do it. However it is on my def. to do list for tomorrow so all being well watch this space tomorrow evening for feedback from that.

I am pleased that we seem to be getting a positive response and fingers crossed that alls OK for the 24th. I do think it's a good idea if we meet for a bite somewhere, also hoping that tea/coffee may be available on arrival.

However, now I'm getting ahead of myself.

Best Wishes
