little post script for the 2 new member XKR's that turned up today ( nice cars BTW )

the link below is for the supercharger oil filling kit that was being discussed

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XKR-XJ ... Xydpx_TmQg

this is by no means a promotion of this particular seller, just an example of what can be bought ( though this one seems good )

As BB and others know, I have recently oil changed the charger on my X350R and carried out a good deal more work to the charger and other applicable areas. This included fitting a small pulley, an up-rated coupling and porting and polishing the charger itself. Quite interesting results have been achieved. I`ll add that best advice for those running supercharged models is to oil change at 60k intervals to avoid oil disintegration and avoid having to source a new centre rotor pack.

Non of this work would have been possible without the help of one Lawson Smith Esq of Powerhouse Automotive. Lawson is the best supercharger guru in the UK and his knowledge is quite incredible. He can supply oil, special grease, bearings, pulleys and indeed NOS kits for all supercharged Jaguar models. He also offers a rebuild and modification service. Having a chat with him is highly recommended. Here is a link to his site.https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j ... YTpdxJ3fWQ

Those interested in the work I have recently done to my supercharger will find the story and photographs in this link.http://www.jec.org.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 81&t=10231

I have written a further three magazine articles, two of which are currently lodged with our Editor and will be published within the next four months or so. The first article details the manufacture of a sports cats exhaust to the X350 and is a magnificent addition to a supercharged Jaguar. The second article details supercharger modifications and the third article will be sent in once I have fitted an up-rated supercharger pump and massive inter-cooler radiator. Those with supercharged cars should watch out for these articles which will appear in the X350 pages. The prime details are applicable to all supercharged Jaguar models.

Right, back to your bacon butties. One day I hope to be able to attend a Kemble meet. This will be a rather nostalgic visit as I did my Licenced Aircraft Engineers training at Kemble some twenty years ago. I have fond memories of the airfield and may be able to still be able to show you a dent in the ground where I stood an Auster on its nose when a brake failed!

great advice there Mike, and thanks for posting it, i fully recommend everyone with a supercharger ( and those that don't ) to read his adventures with the supercharger ' enhancements ' ,

We would be very happy to have you come up one day Mike, you may have to make it sooner than later as there are movements for the airfield to be sold and turned into housing!!!!

again , great to see everyone yesterday , and some good tyre kicking and engine bay scrutinising going on , lol

Really enjoyed my first visit - and thanks to all for the warm welcome for Tessa and myself.

Looking forward to attending future meets - hopefully in the XJS.

A good meeting and as always, interesting to exchange views and hear the experiences of others.

My other half has been experimenting with her new hobby and hopefully the montage below will post OK. If you click on the image it should open to a lager size.

Thanks, BB (and apologies for the delay in replying).

Since speaking with you, I've bought one of these refill kits, however, having drawn off some of the oil in the supercharger, it appears to be all ok (i.e. nice and clear), so I've left well alone for now.. I'm sure the kit will come in handy sometime in the future - either that, or I'll pass it on to Dennis (who was also at the meet, with the other XKR), as I'm sure he'll find a use for it.

Many thanks for the friendly welcome and advice BTW...

I'm afraid that I have a work commitment this weekend so won't be able to come. :( :(
I hope you have a good meeting!

Bugger, I've got to do a coolant flush and renew the core plugs on the boat before the weekend to see if that fixes the overheating issue.
Unfortunately stuck in the middle of decorating and perching precariously up a tree lopping the neighbours laurel which is sucking all the life out of the garden at the moment.
And I still haven't changed the FPR on the XJS yet, not even driven it for a month.
Too much to do!
