Spring Outing - Gaydon Heritage Museum Sunday 28th April '13

Postby dhdove » Mon Jan 21, 2013 6:28 pm

Dear All

Well this is just like old times.....

I am pleased to invite you all to the first event of this season, a trip to the Heritage Museum at Gaydon.

We will meet at the Ettington Chase Hotel, Banbury Road, Ettington, CV37 7NZ, on the A422. Lots of parking, easy access to cars at the front, can take coffees outdoors to car park easilly, will serve outdoors if a nice day. They are used to classic car club meets and the hotel is used by Jaguar Cars for training seminars on a weekly basis.

Rendezvous at the hotel at 10.30, giving plenty of time for those further afield to arrive.
Coffee and biccies £3.50/ head.

I would be grateful (as ever!) if members could provide early booking on this BB thread below if possible to avoid those last minute hikes in numbers.....tho it always happens!

From there, we depart at 11.30 for a run together to Gaydon via A422, turn left after four-ish miles Tysoe Road to Kineton, then through village via Southam St/Southam Rd to Gaydon approx ten miles total.
Arrive Gaydon Museum 12.00 midday.

This is a relaxed timetable with a short road run on minor roads after initial A422, I didn't want to make it a complex navigation exercise!

Ettington Hotel are keen for us to visit and if members wish to make a weekend of it will offer preferential residential rates, I will post further details of that and also arrangements at the museum shortly.

As ever if you wish to attend please post your interest below, early postings are always appreciated!

I hope that many of you will be able to support this event and look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones on the day :D

Very Best Wishes

Hi Tony,
I am the events manager of the XJS Club http://www.xjsclub.org and we would like to join with the forum at this event.
My cars are a 1987 3.6 cabriolet and a 1992 V12 Coupe.
I see this as a first opportunity for us to work together, and perhaps get some more of our members to join the JEC, and the XJS forum, many are members already.
Please email me at: xjsclubevents@aol.com with your thoughts on us advertising your event to our members?
The directors of the JEC are keen that we all work together and co-operate on events :D

Hi Graham

Please by all means advertise this event within the XJS Club but also please emphasise that this is a JEC members meeting and is open to members of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club only. Perhaps this and future BB events will encourage some of your members who are not yet with the JEC to join us!

(XJS BB events by definition are booked solely on this Bulletin Board and therefore are only available to JEC Members anyway).

I do hope that you will be able to attend and look forward to meeting you.

Best Wishes

On my own. 4.0 facelift coupe (flamenco red)

It is not my first post though Tony. I let my membership lapse last year as was out of the country, now have a different member number and the BB will not let me log in on my original name! Old name shouldn't be hard to guess though............

BUMP! AND PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EVENT FOLKS.....

........well, seven weeks to go and I have to say a disappointing response to date, though experience tells me that there are some out there just waiting for the week before! Whilst this makes it easier for you to predict the weather it does nothing for my peace of mind.....and I do need to notify the Heritage Centre and the Hotel of numbers in advance.
....soooo please do support this event and confirm your interest now.

As I see it to date we have:-

Self and Libby ( probably staying night before at the Hotel)
Reg
Iain-1980
Jaguar Mike
Rich +3 (BigCat XJS)

Graham669 - are you attending?

Hope we get an upsurge in interest to make this a proper day out! It would be most disappointing to kick off the new season of XJS BB events with a damp squib and it will inevitably have a negative effect on future events, so come on dig out your enthusiasm and let's have a proper response from you all :P

Best Wishes
