Weston: XJS Gathering?

Postby JaguarMike » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:52 pm

Hi all, haven't seen any corres. or suggestion that the XJS forum are meeting up on the day for a display. Anything happening or just park up with all visitors?

I am also a member of the new XJS Club Midlands and they are talking about meeting up locally then driving in together so we get parking in one area together.

Cov. & Hinc. region are not having an area gathering either.

And finally, I'm thinking of organising a visit to Hyper Engineering later in the year, selfishly on my part to see their still-born hatchbacks, primarily. Maybe I'll start a separate thread on that and see if we can get the JEC XJS Forum and XJS Club Midlands to go and make a day of it.

Keep in touch :D

Hi Mike

I'm sure that parking on the day will be organised by Sue Hedley and helpers, perhaps you should drop her an email for details of what the arrangements are? Historically few events have had single model parking, usually this has been driven by the nature of the site in terms of its layout and the access to it. When you have hundreds of cars arriving in a short time it can take some logistics to arrange models together, tho clearly it is not impossible. ( In any event my Merc skateboard will be relegated to the motor home and trailer park...... :? )

Of course the XJS Forum will have its own arena within the Forums display area although usually there is only space for one or two cars from each model there.

What is the "new XJS Club Midlands"? I thought that the XJS Club was recently subsumed into the JEC and ceased to exist? Is Coventry and Hinkley region also part of the former XJS Club? It will no doubt take some time for these things to work through the system but perhaps your arrangements could be done through this BB which will not only draw new JEC XJS members together but reinforce the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club XJS Bulletin Board as the place for XJS owners to meet and chat?

With regard to Hyper Engineering I went there a couple of years ago for the Exclusively Jaguar website and it's certainly worth a visit with some really interesting stuff to see. Having organised a number of XJS BB events in the past it would be great if these could start again, perhaps you'd let me tag along in my Stuttgard rocket?

Hi TonyS et al,

the XJS Club Midlands rose from the original club (XJS Enthusiasts Club - XEC) and prior to the knowledge that the JEC had been approached to sell members details to etc., the volume of which was a tad misleading I am lead to understand (the JEC should have asked the members what was going on first). Suffice to say some members recruited at NEC in Nov. paid and received nothing and according to other members of the committee, there were other questions un-answered.

Coventry & Hinckley Region is nothing to with the XJS Club, it's just that we have a number of owners locally in both clubs. The new "XJS Club Midlands" has it's own web-site and life membership is £10 for the car/owner, see http://www.xjsclub.org/. Milands, because that's where the majority of the members were.

Anyway, I agree that the JEC XJS Bulletin Board is the place to communicate and share news, help, events etc. No disrespect, but the BB activity was really excellent prior to the web going off-line for a year or more and it doesn't seem to have recovered from that yet. Like you say, time will tell.

I am extremely enthusiastic about my XJS and indeed all and everything about the XJS's, so I need both clubs. The local club one allows me to meet more often with like minded enthusiasts.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your suggestion around a trip to Hyper Engineering. If you are happy to organise, then I would attend as would a number of others, I'm sure. Conversely, if you would prefer for Brian and I to organise, just let me know and we'll get the ball rolling.

Rich.

PS - I will be at Weston.

Hi all,

sad to say that the farmer round by Hyper Engineering isn't keen on lots of cars turning up, so the visit is off for this year I'm afraid.

I will try Paul Hands at Hyper again next year, as I very keen to see his Prototypes and work that he does / can do.

Regards,
