Problem

Hi all. I have a 2010 Jaguar XJ 3.0 diesel saloon Portfolio SWB auto. Whenever I go anywhere near the kerb my rims hit before the tyre and they're then trashed again. I've had them stripped and re-coated once but the slightest touch on the kerb and they're knackered again!
The tyre sizes I have on my 20 inch wheels are - Back - 275/ 35Z R20 and Front are 245/ 40ZR20 99Y Extra load.
The steering is very light and being as it is a magic carpet ride already - being a Jag - I cannot really feel any feedback through the steering or my backside, not like my little 2006 X Type estate. The big Jag almost feels like it's on its tip toes!
Could I by any chance have the wrong size tyres on there? Should they be wider? I've only ever replaced like for like.
My mate has no such issues with his XE?

Go to the Kwik Fit website and under the Tyres tab, type in your registration number and the website will give you a list of the correct tyre options for that registration - assuming it is still as it left the factory in regards to wheel sizes. That is one of the quickest ways to check correct tyre fitment.
However, you say the car feels as though it is on its tiptoes, which does not sound correct. Are the alignments checked and good? Did the tyres that came off show any signs of mismatch wear?
As to hitting the kerb, then that isn't down to the car I suppose.

Hi. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll certainly look at the Quickfit site. As far as I know the 20 inch alloys are standard. They are definitely Jaguar wheels anyway. As regards alignment I've not had any problems with pulling to my ne side or the other and upon tyre renewal there were no signs of uneven wear? The kerb touching is all my doing!
