Rear Brake Pad Replacement X351

Postby john.coubrough868 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:38 pm

I have a 2015 XJ - R Sport and thought it a good idea to replace brake pads myself. Front pads no problem but can't retract rear pistons. I suppose it will have something to do with the electric hand brake and will probably require some computer intervention. If so, any suggestions on what software and where I can get it?

Unfortunatly you will need a special tool to retract the pistons, did consider doing mine however decided due to the cost of the tools and the computer requiring to be reset i'll take it into the dealer.

Thank you Andy & 2Jag for your time and effort to reply to my question. I have done some YouTube research since posting and found a very simple work around requiring no special tools or software. All you need to do is disconnect the parking brake motor and rewind it with a 12V supply then retract the piston normally. The only issue is that I need to take it to a local garage to get the fault code reset.
Thanks again

John
