Hello from Hampshire

Having posted my first question regarding manifold options on an A6 engine and received a very informative post I have been reminded that I should provide more information and have updated my profile accordingly and am happy to provide some background to my Jaguar ownership.

I bought my first Jaguar a Mk2 2.4 back in 1975 and kept it for 25 years, but sadly had to let it go as a house move left us without suitable garage facilities.

I am currently the owner of 2 recently purchased XJS cars, one a 1986 V12 Coupe and the other a 1987 3.6 Cabriolet. I had been looking for a decent XJS for a while and found a suitable 5.3, but literally days later I was made aware of a very nice low mileage Cabriolet and bought that as well. This situation is not supposed to last long as I have been 'advised' to sell the 5.3.

The Cabriolet is currently having small matters attended to, hence the question over the exhaust manifold. The engine was replaced about 15 years and 15,000 miles ago and with what appears to be a quite sturdy undercarriage is need of only minor bodywork repairs.

My absence from Jaguar ownership has made me forget the difference between driving an old cherished car and a modern workhorse.
