1987 V12 XJ-S

Hi all,

I joined JEC whilst waiting to get my XJ-S back, after 3 months, and I'm hoping I get the call to pick it up this week.

I'd been interested in buying an XJ-S for a long time and made a bit of an impulse purchase in May '23 and drove home a lovely black 1987 V12.

I had a number of fuel pickup issues which led me to look into the tank and find a huge amount of rust, and this took another turn as it had other issues too, as the workshop informed me as they were changing the tank.

Once I get the car back I want to get to a couple of meets and reconnect with the gorgeous driving experience I don't get with my Ford Focus

Welcome, there will be plenty of meetings next year.
It's worth contacting your local region as often the smaller more informal get togethers that don't get publicised that well.

Since you are a member of the JEC, perhaps it would be good to get along to your nearest regional meeting. These generally occur every month. You can find your nearest region by punching in your postcode on this page https://jec.org.uk/regions

There is the monthly Breakfast Meet at Gaydon. https://www.jaguarbreakfastclub.org.uk/about-us

On top of that there are numerous cars and coffee meetings. These are non affilliated but allow you to turn up and chat with like minded enthusiasts. In my experience there are always some very interesting cars and stories at these gatherings.

As it's coming up to Christmas, I was going to avoid the lunches and dinners in December and meet up with some of the more informal meets in 2024. I'll also be along at Gaydon on the 2nd December for the Breakfast Club.
I've been along to a couple of the Scrambles/Flywheels at Bicester, and whilst not exclusively Jaguar it makes a great day out.
Just heard back from the workshop and they are finished with the car, so I'm excited to pick it up tomorrow.
