sound problems

Hi new to this forum so hi to all

i have a 91 xjs 5.3 and have recently had a sony head unit fitted and 2 new speakers to the front

the issue is the speakers at the fron are not working properly one works very quietly and one not at all

back ones are fine?

had all the connections checked so something not quite right? cant see an amplifier anywhere?

it is jap import could that be the route of the issue?

the sound was working before on standard radio although front spekers were not too good

I have a Sony head unit on my '89 XJ-S and have also had the front speakers replaced.

There is no amp, so sound levels to the speakers will be controlled by your head unit's Balance and Fade splits. Assuming that you have tested each speaker output using these functions and still have an issue, then other than a lose connection at the back of the head unit or at each new speaker, the wiring would perhaps be the next item to check. Check for any loss of current possibly caused by water egress? The original front speakers would have each benefited from a black plastic cover. If you have fitted some modern 5" speakers, then chances are that you were not able to reuse the plastic cover. Thus they could now be exposed to water/damp if you have a small leak, as the water proofing was never great to start with.

I'm not an electrician, so sorry that I cannot offer any further more detailed advice.
