Jaguar's new Incontrol touch pro system faults (ICTP)

Postby jagmanvaughn » Sun May 29, 2016 11:33 am

This new system is in the F-Pace and XF as well as the XJ.

Just so you're aware, I'm facing a lot of issues with the software being really slow and intermittently not working.

On such a big car, the cameras are sometimes not activating which means you are basically taking risks with the car when the feature doesn't work.

Also the sound system blips briefly after the cars sat nav interrupts for direction or speed cameras, its not a natural flow.l

Sometimes the system will not fire up at all - it doesn't like stopping and turning the engine off then restarting.

The satnav does hang a lot on input and other passengers have commented on how slow the system is to even load.

Onboard wifi is also a little shocking - it forgets its former settings meaning you have to go into many levels of menus to reactivate,

Finally, sometimes music will not play through the car until the car rests (lock it up for 15mins). At one point there was a crackling (like a stone hitting the windscreen) from the audio system which seems to have gone away.

The problem is all these issues are intermittent so sometimes they work sometimes they don't - very frustrating.

Jaguar Hatfields dealer have been very understanding though, I have said if these issues continue then I will be looking to reject the car. I don't want to pay for a car that will never work correctly, Jaguar keep promising a software update but this is still yet to happen.

The saying goes, the more options a car has the more there is to go wrong.

Anyone else having issues?

Vaughn
Very disappointed to hear of your problems - lets hope JLR get it fixed quickly - using customers as the test bed for unproven systems is not the direction a quality marque should be taking and could do more harm than good (they should go back and look at their history and how long it took to recover from the poor quality of the BL days, might undermine all the good work of the last 5 years)

I have not heard of any other XJ owners with this issue, though I have heard of an early FPace needing a complete infotainment reboot.

Just an update for you - due to issues with the cars Incontrol Touch Pro (ICTP) system, jaguar have finally released an update for the car.

The dealer has tried to install the software but this hasn't gone to plan and the car has been at the dealership for 8 days thus far. FPace owners have faced similar issues (Google 'jaguar ICTP problems') and many have rejected their cars. The issue with the xj autobiography is that it has 4 screens, 2 in the back for rear entertainment and 2 in the front (the sat nav and dash screens). Therefore it has a lot of data to process.

The system has always had bugs and as a lifelong jaguar enthusiast it is really disappointing that after purchasing my dream car and ordering it brand new to the spec I've always wanted, the first year has been a struggle and it's been with the dealer several times in the first 11 months.

At this point, I'm thinking of rejecting the car due to present and future concerns regarding if the system fails when it's out of warranty and the associated cost to put the car right. It's also dangerous as when the software just freezes it means a lot of the sensors and camera don't work - meaning you are chancing moving the car or pulling out of spaces - with the car being so big it isn't a car you can manoeuvre easy.

Are any other members having issues? (XE, XF and fpace owners with the Incontrol touch pro system).

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problems; but I think we all rely too much on technology today. Gone are the days when you just jumped in a car and drove it!
Thankfully my XJ doesn't have the incontrol system so apart from a slow media/sat nav system its been relatively drama free.
Best of luck!

It doesn't just happen to cars.
The ship that I work on has just had a lovely new 'integrated' control system fitted.
They have had to drag an engineer in off rest days to manually operate the fire system valves and pumps in the event of an emergency because it doesn't work.
Technology for the sake of technology.
Absolute rubbish; all the decisions are taken away from the people that are supposed to be in charge.
Rant over.

I have 2017 F-Pace and whilst not too many bells and whistles, the Incontrol is at times slow to load, slow to change issues. Not enough to bother me, as they do work - just a bit slow at times. But there should be no excuse for this today.
I also have 2015 X351 XJ with it's older system which is nigh on perfect for me, no glitches and always surprisingly informative. I like the all encompassing default display view, which allows quick access to everything. It is also far more intuitive.
I do wish however that all Jaguar GPS map views were more up to the standard of my previous 6 year old Audi A7 which was astonishing.

Having a frustrating technical problem and could do with some help please.
2016 XF. I have incontrol pro apps, account all set up, sees my car ok, jaguar navigation account ok, signed in and added my car by VIN number, but if I go in my car (WiFi hotspot to my phone set up and connect along with Bluetooth) when I try and log into the navigation, all it keeps saying is a problem at jaguars end and to try again later (which I have been trying to do in several ways now for a few weeks) I've messaged Jaguar on Facebook as their live chat link did not work from the apps help page but still have no reply.
Can anyone help me log on in the cars navigation screen? (I don't want to pay and update the maps until I know it fully works)

I was only ever able to update the maps by logging in via a laptop, downloading them to a USB Dongle and then loading that into the car. If that's not an option and your home wifi is good enough, try connecting the car to your home wifi when parked outside. I suspect using the phone as a wifi hotspot is too slow to be able to download maps.
