What a car!!

Postby damawe63 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 8:34 pm

We picked up our standard F Type on Saturday. The Jaguar factory built the car ahead of schedule and Harwoods of Chichester did a great job and the handover was a day to remember. Every time we drive the car is a fantastic, makes going to work an enjoyable experience (well almost  ). Lots of switches and information to learn now but driving is an absolute joy. We have to keep the revs down for the first couple of thousand miles. I'd not realised that some aspects of ownership are now very different - there's no dipstick as such to check as the software will advise when an oil top up is required, although there is a function to display a digitised version. So far so good, have even managed to avoid denting it getting it in and out of the garage (tight squeeze). We're looking forward to meeting up with other JEC members at the various events from here on.... regards, dave

Fantastic to hear you are enjoying the car.

Closest I have come so far is sat in a stationary one, or being overtaken (rather rapidly I have to say too) by one.

Looking forward to seeing the F-Type's joining the JEC ranks at shows.

Hi there

Having had an E Type (red S3 2+2) for 32 years and being in the club most of its existance, you can guess how much I love Jags. :D

So when the F Type finally came out we were blown away and finally having thrown all caution to the wind we have bought one, a V6 in red with a lot of extras! Took delivery on friday and wow what a car it is ! Still getting to know it and after a couple of days tried the race mode, now known in our house as "the animal button" which made it even faster and louder. Its a rocket ship.:P

I cant wait to get the E and F together at a show next year but I'm restoring the E this winter. Cheers Ian

That is great, but hey ! you need to get the garage sorted . Its not fair on the Ftype to have a tight squeeze. I had same problem for my Stype but having got rid of all obstacles on each side and attaching pipe insulation material to the walls where doors might touch the risk is greatly reduced.
Of course, ideally knock a a wall down to widen plus wider entrance door to suit. ( well that is my dream and it will be done if an Ftype comes my way )

Hi guys, currently I have an XJ but I am considering upgrading to an F-Type after I rented a Jaguar F-Type for a few days. However, it seems like it's quite the financial investment for the upkeep. With my XJ it's been really relaxed and affordable but I am worried for an F-type it'll be quite substantial. What's your experience been like so far?
To be honest I really want an F-Type but rather get some more details. Thanks :)

With most driveline and suspension components common to various Jaguar models and with Jaguar reliability at a good level there's nothing to fear about buying an F-Type, with one exception. What's the exception? It's the model's tendency to travel at much faster speeds than you thought you were doing and the resultant speeding fines! You have been warned. :D Mike.
