Dashboard and Door Leather Cleaning

Wondered what owners are using to clean the leather other than the leather seats?

My car was valeted by the dealer and unfortunately they used a silicone type product on the dash and its now very shiny which means in bright weather all you can see is the reflection of the dash in the windscreen!

Dealer was a nightmare at all levels.

Hello Goss,

I use the same as on the seats which is generally 'Dr Leather' wipes. These are quite sizeable and appear to clean better than standard leather wipes. I also have some proprietary 'Jaguar Leather Cleaner' which I was given and reserve for occasional use, but I find it leaves a slightly sticky residue. I am not a 'Detailer' so I am sure there's much better advice around than from me

As for your dealer's service, yes there certainly still seems to be plenty of useless ones around even amongst main dealers

Hello Peter,

I have looked at a detailing website and found that using an all purpose cleaner mixed one part to ten of water does remove the silicone. Thanks, I will try the Dr Leather wipes and see how it looks. My understanding is that the door tops and dash should look matt in appearance instead of glossy?

Yes matt with a hint of sheen, but definitely not gloss

I hope the silicon removal is successful
