The chrome covering is flaking off one of my exhaust tips. I haven't asked the main dealer for a price as I expect it will be a lot, but I have found plenty of exhaust tips advertised for XFs online. However, they all appear to be just a metal piece, while the original exhaust tip has a 'body' of some obviously inert material which can withstand heat (unlike the material is is covered with!). I presume this dense material is there for a reason, so what would be the effect of replacing the exhaust tip with one which is just a metal surrround?
Alternatively, where would be the best place(s) to look for a second-hand part in useable condition?
[I had intended t post a picture, but haven't worked out how to do it - any pointers would be welcomed - thanks]
P.S. Obviously I guessed right how to add a photo!

Hi Eddie,
Most annoying when this sort of thing happens,
Those trims look like the ones Adamesh sells for £340.00
which in my world is taking the micheal.
Here is the link to them anyway:
https://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-xf-chr ... 3731-p.asp
I would think a previous owner has added them in the past.
I think these ones are original fitment. Exhaust trims come down to personal choice really, there are many to choose from.
On the XF exhaust it looks like the trims are part of the system and are tack welded on.
If you wanted to change the trims I think you would have to cut off the old ones.
Check to see if your ones are covers, they might just pull off.
If you buy new ones try and make sure they are stainless steel, they will not corrode then.
Hope that helps a bit and let us know how you get on.
Take care and stay safe.
Andy

Thanks for that Andy. I shalln't be going down the £340 route! I'll have a look and see how the ones I have are fixed and then make some decisions, although it's not a priority job and will not be done until I get a day which is not cold, wet or both!
