Yesterday at the fuel filling station the fuel filler flap on my '13 plate Sportbrake wouldn't open.
Eventually (at home) I got it open although I'm not sure how exactly. Drove back to refuel with the flap ajar.
Later, having a look at things, I got to a point where the flap is now permanently unlocked and, while this means at least there is always access to refuel, I'd prefer to have things working properly.
My diagnosis is a failed fuel flap actuator and that the fuel filler bowl needs replacing. A bit of research in the service and repair manual suggests that this is removed via the wheel arch, once the liner has been removed.
Anyone actually done this and confirm the method?

Re: Fuel Filler wouldn't open
A further snippet of info.
Read the codes this afternoon and two relevant ones were P04BB and P04BF both of which point to a fuel flap motor or wiring fault. If the local dealership can come up with a sensible price, I might just let them have a go.

It's a very common fault. Keep it well lubricated.
