The car is 2010 Premier luxury XF, the water in fuel warning activated but reset after about 8 miles, on cold starting the next day the warning appeared again

Hi. I know it's a bit late, but I had this. I drained the filter into a glass jar and sure enough there were a few globules of water in the fuel. The light initially went out, but returned after a few miles. I "Googled" the problem and it seems fairly common that the sensor fails, so I replaced it and never had a problem since.
First Jag was an LPG X308 XJ8; now have an XF 3.0D. I enjoy doing my own maintenance.
