West lake tyres

Postby mak485 » Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:58 pm

I have bought a 2018 XF 25d sportbrake love the car but previous owner has put Westlake tyres, I’m a bit concerned with these on a 250 Bhp car. Any comments would be welcome.

I've never heard of them, but a quick google tells me that the company is active worldwide and they are 'not bad'. I think that if it were me I'd consider the type of driving I do [in my case I don''t demand anywhere near as much of the tyres or the car as I'm sure they are capable of] and keep them to see how they go. I'm not sure I'd be looking at them when they come up for replacement though.

mak485,

I'd do a lot more searching on Google if I were you. Although they seem to have a large presence, there seem to be some pretty damning personal reviews on Westlake tyres. And one US site rated them as "The worst tire brand to avoid at all cost in 2021".

You've got a high-quality modern car. The only thing in contact with the road is that patch of tyre. They are not the tyres I'd put on that car.

Good luck with your decision
