Front disc wear

Postby Sprinter » Wed Mar 22, 2023 7:45 pm

My Sportbrake is showing unusual wear on the front discs. New (Jaguar branded) discs and pads were fitted by an independent Jag specialist at 80,000 miles. At the next MoT, at 82,380 miles, I was given advisories for wear on both front discs. The inside faces were scored, while the outside faces still had the machining marks showing. The garage that fitted them found no problem with the calipers when they checked them not long after. Now, at 84,300 miles there is a large amount of steel particles embedded in the front wheels. Help! Anyone else seen anything similar?

Steel particles where exactly? Sounds like those discs were perhaps not genuine jaguar OEM ones?

Steel particles visible on the inner face of the rim between spokes and some on the leading faces of the spokes (in the direction of rotation).

Definitely not normal I would be tempted to replace discs and pads with genuine Jaguar parts
