Interior light

I cannot get my interior lights to come on when opening doors,they work when you touch them. I have tried various methods to reset them to no avail,do you have to have the ignition on or engine running to reset them.Any help please?

When you get in the car, touch and hold the centre overhead light for 2 seconds. If you’ve already tried that then it could be a sticky door microswitch.
