Number Plate bulbs

I have the nearside Number Plate light out. I have changed the bulb, no effect.
I have removed the boot lid lining to get access to the wiring and that's where is all stops. How do you get to tracing the cable that goes to the Nearside light. It's a puzzle. I can't see which is the wiring going to the Number Plate bulbs or how it even gets there. Jaguar main dealer wants the value of the car to fix it.

Update:- There is a broken wire,negative, in the harness that goes to the NUMBER PLATE light bulbs. Quite where is a mystery.
This harness unplugs from the main boot harness with a multi connector for the Positive feeds and there is a separate negative feed wire coming out of the main harness going to a crimped connector withe 3 negative wires going from it. 2 go to each of the 2 number plate lights, the 3rd goes somewhere else Must be the boot catch perhaps. So a fix with a length of wire between the crimped connector ,harness side , and the negative wire on the bulb holder is the next step. Update to follow.
I see how the Dealer arrives at his quote! .

Update 2:- Replaced the Negative wire with link wire between upstream connector and bulb holder body-----no joy, checked continuity on
original wiring, showing open circuit, checked continuity on link, showing ok. Got to be positive side as well !!, checked continuity , none, connected a link wire, hurray, continuity, bulb in and success. Both wires broken where the harness goes through a grommet in the Boot Lid to the chrome moulding where the lights are located. Both Neg and Pos are crimped again at this point with feeds to the nearside light and the Boot lid Open switch. Real fiddly job.
