I have a 2014 XF 2.2 diesel, I have been advised that the ‘Low Battery’ warnings signal that the batteries have reached the end of their usable life.
I would prefer to change the batteries out myself but have heard alarming stories about radios needing to be reprogrammed, central locking, windows and the engine management system losing its parameters amongst others.
Is this a possibility or should I take it to a main dealer.
Would maintaining a 12 volt supply during the swop out be sensible?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Battery Removal
You can certainly provide a jump feed during a battery change.
There is no real issue letting the car go dead if no jump feed is available Don`t fret about it. Just make sure you have the radio code to hand BEFORE you swap batteries. If you have the code, then you won`t have any problems. Note the clock will also have to receive a reset for the period you have taken power from the car.
On removal of the old battery, disconnect the -Ve lead first. Having installed the new battery, connect the +Ve lead first. New batteries should be of the premium "silver" type technology. ie Bosch, Varta or Yuasa. DO NOT use economy type batteries as often seen on the shelves of motoring outlets. Put a decent battery in and have a problem free car.
