Various Intermittent Electrical Problems

Am I unlucky? I have the following faults which all happen occasionally since I've had the car during the last 18 mths.

Back and front parking sensors work back to front, i.e. the front ones don't make a sound as you drive up to something but then beep when you reverse away?? The back now are doing the same. This can be especially annoying in traffic. If a car drives up too close to you whilst you are stationary in Drive, they start beeping. Sometimes they work fine.

Engine feels like its running on Kangeroo juice. Surging at low speed, again, only once in a while.

Windscreen wipers sometimes operate for no reason whatsoever, often quite a few times when it hasn't rained for weeks.

The little (blind spot) amber warnings in the door mirrors sometimes come on for no reason.

And a few other random faults which only occurred once!

I also now have now just had a passenger door lock failure (not intermittent) which means that unless you have the key in your pocket you can't open the door from the outside. I now look very chivalrous always opening the door for my wife!

Anyone else had so many problems?

With so many different problems the first place to look is the battery. In your case I would take the battery off the car and charge it for a full 24hrs. This will also allow the cars computers to reset themselves.

Once charged, refit the battery, reset the windows and any other memory settings and try again.

I have a 2017 XF sportbrake R-Sport which is currently back at the main dealers, again, owing to ongoing electrical faults. Mainly issues with the entertainment system which suddenly freezes for no reason and the DAB is very intermittent. Twice the digital dash has displayed faults with the ABS, power steering, AEB, Passenger air bag and the car went into limp mode. Being intermittent, they are having issues finding the cause of it. The car only has 4209 miles on it. Not what i was expecting from a car of this class and price. My old Toyota which is now 8 years old still gives 100% trouble free service.
