I have a 2013 Sportsbrake Porfolio model and I have a message coming up "Battery not Charging." I know that if you only use the car for short journeys it affect air vents not opening automatically and the stop/start eco system does not work. I don't use the car as a daily driver, so I keep the car hooked up to a battery saver. I see on other forum sites this seems to be another Jaguar problem that is difficult to solve. Mostly the battery is charging and it so it might be a software problem.

Have you checked the obvious - is the accessory drive belt sitting correctly, is it tight enough to drive the alternator without slipping? If you always keep the charger connected how do you know the alternator is actually working and charging the battery?

If you have a Multi-Meter connect it to the battery with the engine off, it should read just over 12 volts for a healthy battery, 12.2-12.4 fully charged. Start the engine(if you can) it should now read in excess of 13.8 volts, 14.2 or slightly higher, this shows your alternator is operating correctly.

Thank for replies, I have checked the voltage and it is reading OK so the battery is being charged. I have just been out on a test run and no message has appeared on the screen so I guess it is another one of these annoying fault message that will come up on these highly technical Jaguars. The car is only 3 years old and has 22,000 miles on the clock and you do not expect an alternator fault etc. I don't get this problem on my E-Type and my XJS!
