Hello again. Had the XF for 4 weeks now and its been really good over 1200 miles or so despite the weather.
Fortunate to have had 2 Jaguars now. Previously had a S Type 2.7D XS manual for 15 months and changes in circumstances and moving away from Mway and dual carriageways last year meant that car was no longer ideal for lots of short journeys. Did look at S Type forum quite a lot as it had a few foibles over that time and hope Mike on there makes a good recovery.
Looked at XKs and quite liked the later ones with rotary drive selector and had test driven a XF 3.0S a while ago. XK was not practical for our needs so focused a pre-facelift XF petrol version with a light coloured interior. Not that many about and went through the approved used route and drove and bought the closest as loved the flexibility of the engine plus liked the black mesh grill which I'd considered as a mod for s type not overly keen on the parallel slats one it had.
I have got used to auto now and its great for a uphill traffic jam crawl near near a local river & rail crossing. Seats and screen and wipers great in this weather and ipod connectivity nice to have – main plusses over s type around town (plus no diesel smell from webasto heater if stationary in first 10 mins from starting!) . Have used the winter setting quite a bit in wet. Long weekend run was great in car and it’s also very good at low speeds and ride seems very good even on some smaller country lanes. Satnav was better for the long run north than the return and got used to finding destination again after stops. Moving around Ipod folders can be a bit frustrating as seems to be a bit reluctant to change tunes even after reconnecting player.
Very good in towns and great low burble and a pretty good change of pace if its needed at higher speeds.
best regards
Reg

Hi there Reg,
Good to see you have been using your XF and are getting to know it a bit better (and enjoying it as well by the sound of it).
I assume you have already posted pictures on the register, if not please upload them when you have a mo, and do keep coming back to the forum. As Hugh has stepped down, i am looking after the forum for now and I would like to get more traffic and discussions between our XF members.
The XF is the up and coming car in the club now, early models now change hands at below £10k so they are really affordable cars and I am sure we are going to see a lot of them attending runs shows etc over the next few years.
Regards

Re: Newish member - hello again
No pics posted yet Ray, I seem to be doing a quick wash before certain trips and have only taken a couple of pictures when it was wet as we were leaving Norfolk earlier in the week. Should have some time at end of next week if the torrential rain eases up a bit.
Black looked lovely in the sun yesterday, but had to rush off and change before going to sit in an F type coupe.
Ipod system took offence at my comments above today as just after posting The Who would only play in the rear whereas CD blasted out as normal and I checked the balance setting was centred OK. Sounded like driving away from a concert, - OK on return journey though. Changed screen saver shows 1/2 a union jack on left and a leaper on right so might have look at the alternative screens to see if this persists as assume 1/2 a flag not normal (seems to appear if I'm a bit heavy fingered when decreasing the seat heat setting and when proper button pushed).
regards
Reg

Good stuff, reg, though I am getting more than cheesed off with all of you trying F Type Coupes, perhaps supply to Shropshire has been cut off by the floods.
You have the iPod advantage over me - your system two years ahead of mine so likely software differences - I promised I would never have another black car, because of the perpetual washing - but they do look great when they are just done.
