Wanted rear drivers side interior trim panel convertible X150

Postby c.neil59458 » Wed Jul 07, 2021 5:00 pm

I am trying to locate a replacement trim panel as mine has been removed and refitted by someone who has broken/damaged several of the mounting points for the torx bolts. This meands I cannot fit the panel correctly so it has a tendency to move causing a problem with the convertible roof sliding panel on the drivers side which sticks and has a tendency to come out of the rails.

Trim colour is barley although I suppose I could get a different trim and get it recovered?

In addition the spring tension device mounts have been broken and repaired although I have fitted a new one with a new panel which is much better.

Alternatively does anyone know anyone who can plastic weld onto the original panel in the Doncaster area who might be able to repair the original panel?

Thanks

Chris

Try contacting the specialist breakers, like Eurojag and Autoreserve, which advertise in the club magazine. Mike.

Hi Chris, if you type 'plastic welder near Doncaster' into your search engine you will get lots of 'hits' and it is even possible to buy a plastic welder kit for under £30. One of the hits that shows promise, although I have never used them nor have I any connection to the company is C&S Pro Spray, who claim to specialise in plastic welding on vehicle parts - especially bumpers.
If you have the broken pieces, or parts from which a pattern can be made to remake the broken parts, this looks like a relatively inexpensive way to go forward.

Hi Chris, that's a chunk of change. If you have the parts and the plastic welding can be made to work, the bonus is that you keep the original and save the outlay. I know which way I would try.
