New Jaguar XJR Owner & joined the JEC

Hi my name is Alan and have just purchased my first Jaguar, went to see a X type estate, the chap had 7 Jaguars in stock, but for me the Jaguar Racing Green XJR made it very hard to view the other cars, its a 2005 with 77k full history with new discs and pads and rear arm bushes. Now 3 weeks in and i seem to be looking for any reason to drive the car, as i have 2 other cars, i have the Jaguar on a modern classic 3000 miles per year insurance policy, this could be a mistake even though the readout is showing 24-25mpg i seem to be taking notice of the miles covered instead. The car is great it has all the spec options that you would need apart from no i pod dock, now using an FM radio type device which is working very well, two things are negative, 1, the rear exhaust tail pipes are to small for the bumper, 2, a flat cap is on the way soon from my wife, although she did say it looks good with the 20 inch wheels, i can now understand why Jaguars have such a large following, no idea why its taking so long to buy one, looking forward to using the Jaguar more, very happy with club and glad that i joined.

Can I offer a second welcome to the club, you made the right decision! With the mileage you are doing ( a bit less than mine) the fuel costs should not be worried about..just enjoy it while there is still petrol to have. I can't really see us getting excited about an electric XJ that may come in the future. Do post up any experiences here and don't hesitate to get in touch with me or Rob Jenner who is now deputy assistant X-350 coordinator( he doesn't know it yet!!) with any problems or such like.
I do not wear flat caps!!!

why be concerned about an electric Jag ?

electric motors have more torque and faster acceleration then petrol engines, and you can always bung a V8 soundtrack on your MP3 player , lol

Hello All, I am also new to the club after taking stewardship of a 1999 XJR.
Makes me smile every time I look at it and I will find any excuse to get and and enjoy it.
I have found that its best to look at the miles covered instead of the MPG reading on the display as its not accurate.
Out of a full tank (£80) I am looking to get around 350 miles driving sensibly, press the sport button and you can watch the fuel gauge move quickly down, which is fun but mot practicable, the car is not "mint" but will be by the end of January.
I am looking forward to my first meeting with the North Wales members in Mold this month and hope to see you all at various days out next year.

Welcome to the club and also welcome to the Bulletin Board!

This section of the BB is for x350 models which are the XJ saloons produced from 2003. Your 99 XJR (nice car!)is what is referred to as an x308 model, the XJ saloons ptoduced from 1997-2003. Do pop along to that section also and introduce yourself, there's plenty of friendly members there as well!
