So after many years of non jag ownership (previous series 2 3.4 and XJ40 Sov) - finally abondoned all sense and bought a 4.2 se. Turns out is is chassis 0799, so quite early, just hope not too early ! - What a great car though!

It is the last six alpha/numeric digits that identify a car. ie G24690.
If we have that then we can tell more about the car.

Hi Tim,
Congrats on the purchase of the car. I had many happy miles in a 4.2 SE. Great cars!
If you're looking for feedback on the car from Mike, I'd drop him a private email with the VIN, rather than publish it here on a public forum.

Turns out I cannot PM yet, but not to worry - the last part of my VIN is G00XXX if that helps release any information.
(Note from Moderator---Mike K. As per Pauls` suggestion, I have taken the liberty of removing your VIN number for your own personal security. No one on line now looking at this post can now see and possibly clone your vehicle details....Certainly a very early car. Mike)
