Change of S-cene!

Hi! I recently joined the club when I bought my first Jag and XJ8 (X308) but sadly she needs more work than I can afford to invest in. However, through JagTechnic in Eastbourne I purchased my S-Type, a 1999 V6 3.0l SE in unusual Alpine Green. Different drive to the XJ, more modern but still feels...Jag! Very pleased with it so far and hope to have some aggro-free motoring!

Nice to see another early car.

Not wishing to alarm you, but I have recently run a bearing in the 3 lt engine and am fitting an early (1999) engine. I have noticed that the very early 3 ltr up to about mid 2000 has less oil in it 5.9 ltr against the 6.5 of my original later engine so it is essential to keep the oil level at the maximum.

The early and later engine is denoted by the dipstick, early ones have a 'tee' bar top and the later have the ring pull handle, also there is a note in the maintenance manual to the effect of the change of dipstick and resultant increase in oil capacity and level.

What Martec didn't tell you was, he wound his engine up to 2 1/2 million RPM in second gear and was surprised that it went bang. Promise me you won't tell anybody that I told you!

Been out for a run today, ostenisbly to the shop which is less than a mile away, I covered about 40....

Yes, the club and site are brilliant. Learning every day. Came out of work a bit stressed today and to be honest I don't have a lot of luck with cars so although very new to me, as this is a car worth having, I have been waiting for something to fall off or break.

However, the more I use her the more I am gaining confidence in the car. Sunk into the seat today, started her up and started the plod home. After literally minutes the tensions started drifting away, with the radio on, the climate control warmed the cabin and for the first time in years I enjoyed the commute home! Loving the sound of the V6. Not quote as throaty as a V8, but a unique and definite sound - I am starting to enjoy the S.....

:lol: Glad to here your car kept you warm.Here in South Australia it`s the reverse. we will have 43c today.However my 2005 3ltr SE still keeps it`s gauge in the middle and with the aircon set on 23c,no probs Cobber!! This is my first post. Tonuptone.
