Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen
I’m a new member, having recently purchased a 2017 S Type. I’ve had an XJ6 and an XJ8 in the past so it’s very good to be back behind the wheel of a proper Jaguar. Unfortunately, when I purchased the car, I only inherited one key fob, which had issues. I could unlock the car and boot with it but not lock the car remotely. Thinking it was a battery issue, I found that when it was apart, the “buttons” were adrift and everything was held in place by Sellotape.
Thinking it better to replace the fob, I called out a firm of auto locksmiths who were confident they could replace the defective unit with a three button unit I believe from an X Type. After some time they were unable to pair this unit with the car and were not able to assist further
Just wondered if others had encountered this problem and how they resolved it?
Many thanks
Mike Hayes

Re: New member and key fob issues
Hi Mike
Fobs are readily available on eBay, see link below, you then need to get it programmed to the car. You need either an independent jaguar garage with the right equipment, or a locksmith that specialises in programming car keyfobs. The good news with the S Type is that fobs are cheap, unlike the XK8..
