New club member and new s type owner

Hi all,
i have recently purchased a 52reg 3.0 sport auto in black with black interior, 83k miles with pretty good history, ive had it about a month now and love it, maybe the best car i have owned [and ive had around 50odd in 30 years of driving], replaced my 53reg e class merc with the jag, the merc was nice but a bit boring, nearly went for a xj and considered a xk, also was tempted by the v8 and the R, but in the end had to be a little bit sensible so the 3.0 it was, did a little research and went for the post02 with the updated dash and the 6 speed box, already been messing with it a bit, had a little bit of paintwork done by a friend who has a bodyshop, change the wheels to black 18ins with polished rims, looking at replacing the back boxes next with the ones advertised by the club, and after reading on here a gearbox oil change!!!!, am i right in understanding there is a guy up the road in birkenhead that is recommended for this??, anyway just got my membership pack today, so thats me for now, will try and post a pic up later, now to read through the club mag.

my new toy, with new wheels and tyres, smoked side repeaters, mesh grill, debadged and rebadged with R,s [sad i know] ive changed the gearknob, fitted jag mudflaps and carpet mats, and even polished the tailpipes

oh, and bit the bullet and drilled the bonnet and fitted the leaper, aero wiper blades and window wind deflectors, ive given the inside a good valet but the exterior will have to wait till it warms up a bit, its also got the upgraded stereo with the amp and multichanger in the boot, apart from that i think its standard

The car looks good. May it give you many happy years of motoring.

The V6 is the one to go for as regards performance and quite reasonable economy. Certainly a lot less thirsty than my tweeked V8!

The Club exhausts are good value for money. Give James a call at HQ and he can fix you up with a set.

Change the gearbox oil via a suitably equipped garage facility every 25k miles and you will be assured reliable motoring.

Bob Bate is the man to contact in Liverpool. He has spent his life maintaining Jaguars and is also a writer in our Club magazine. Not only that he is a great guy! Details in the magazine.

Suggest you visit this BB as often as you can. There is plenty of knowledge to be had.

cheers mike, i will sniff bob out lol, yes i have seen the details re the club rally, its not far from me, telford is about 40mins away, so the rally not too much further, i hope to get along to it, i am fairly active on the bike club scene with my 76 modded suzuki gt750 with shows and rallies, i hope to do the same with the jag, albeit its not quite a classic yet, i have found the local area rep meet which is just down the road from me, yes, i tried a 2.5 before buying the 3.0 and it felt a little flat, would have liked the v8, but running 2 cars and 2 bikes in the household, a little bit of sense had to come into it, saying that, when i picked the car up, on a 60 mile run home with the cruise set a 70 and the trip reset it was showing 36mpg when i got home [mainley motorway].

Welcome to the JEC. The S Type is a very good car, although I sold mine a few months ago, I feel that they represent excellent value for money and I certainly enjoyed mine.

I know what you mean, i was up at the wifes cousins for new years eve, hes a closet petrol head and is always interested in my latest car or bike, so i took the jag up, he couldnt believe i only gave £2250 for my jag, and you can pick them up for less than that too.
