interior trim

dear fellow members,
I'm looking for a supplier of the black velvet-like thin cloth for my Daimler doublesix S1.
It is used in different areas of the interior, e.g. underdash tray, seat base rear edge, front seat mounts (on the floor),...

I've only found an item at BAS that's called 'autolux'. Not sure though if it's the correct thickness!
Plus, I've requested them for a sample twice but got lost in the mail twice (?)!!

Hi Jan, we had this material replaced on our XJ series 1. We took the easy way out and got a car trimmer in the UK to do the work for us (We live in Ireland). The material that he used for this job was perfect and he had a roll of it in his workshop. I presume the material is readily available to those in the know. His website address is Classiccartrim.co.uk and his name is Ron Hoey. He is based in North Walsham in Norfolk. He is a very approachable guy and I am sure if you email him he may be able to let you know where to get this material. If you want to be like us and take the easy way out his work is first class and not expensive for the quality of his work. Our car has been a prize winner at various shows due in no small part to his hard work.

Hi Jan,
I think the material you are looking for is the same as the headlining material, but in black. So should be easy to get from the usual suppliers. Hope this helps.

thx's for the reply.
It's not quite the same as the headlining has a foam backing to the cloth plus the surfacefeel on the sough after material is more like plain velvet.

Actually, I'm already in the process of putting in a 'new' (read secondhand!) interior with full carpetset. Took the occasion of changing the color to suède green instead of the original black as that pleases my liking more.
Only drawback was that the replacement interior kit has doorcards for manual windows and my car has the optional electric ones, so I'm stuck with an ugly round hole...four of them to be precise
Glad to see that Classic Car Trim also do doorcards! If the price will be endulgeable I can have that fixed at once too!

Have you thought of searching for boat trimmers? They do all sorts of odd stuff and in theory it should be vaguely waterproofish.
