Hi,

I'm in the process of having my 6 cylinder XJ6C restored and would like to use a stainless exhaust system.
I'm not really interested in a noisy sports performance system, I would like a system thats as honest as the original.
I'm after some recommendations please, a kit that includes all of the fitting brackets, rubbers & hangers would be an advantage.
I also don't have an unlimited pot of money, but I'm willing to pay for something thats both good and reasonably priced.

If you look hard enough, there are still original Jaguar components of the exhaust system available here and there (eg at Stoneleigh and other autojumbles). That said, be very careful to collect matching components because there are several variations on a theme, all Jaguar OE components. For series 2 cars, there are LWB and SWB versions; stainless and aluminised versions (of silencers & over axle pipes); sleeved and olived joints. There are also slight variations in the hanger locations of the over axle pipes between different series cars. How do I know? Over the years, I acquired a mixed collection of exhaust components for 6 and 12 cylinder cars. I have kept some and disposed of others. Alternatively, an easier but more expensive way forward would be to buy from one of the major spares suppliers advertising in the magazine. They can all supply aftermarket stainless systems which sound similar to the OE versions. Mike.

But after reading this months magazine from cover to cover not one mention of stainless (or otherwise) exhaust systems.

So, please, my request again.

I bought a system from Double S 30 years ago for my 1966 ‘S’ Type . It was easy to fit and is still going strong.
