Cooling rails

Postby V12Smig » Tue Apr 07, 2020 12:44 pm

I am replacing my V12 on my 85 Sovereign V12 ... the old one overheated horribly 6 years back and I have acquired a 1988 unit (same electrics and much lower mileage) that I am currently cleaning and swapping over the ancillaries etc. I cleaned and painted the 88's cooling rails (the ones on ether side on the outside of the V), when I was doing this I noticed that the central tubes will rotate, quite freely... Is this normal? the ones on the old engine are fixed fast.... I don't want to fit these only to find out that they leak...

Hi - it would be worth replacing the seals while you have the opportunity. Previous posts on here suggest that you only use genuine Jaguar ones to avoid having to do it again!

Thank you, I'll check the usual sources for the seals, I presume it's just a question of pulling them out?

Pulled out the old seals which were hard and brittle and fitted new Jaguar "Do Not Reuse" seals which were soft and made from Rubber.. Thanks for your help here
