Re: 1976 XJ12 rebuild. Has anyone encountered this problem when fitting new injectors? When attempting to fit new injectors the fuel injector plug fouls on the mounting bracket preventing the connector from locking home. I have found various mounting bracket configurations but none allow the connector to fully mate, even the original brackets seem wrong. Have I got the correct injector? Anybody know where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.

The injectors are correct for a pre HE engine. looking at the pics, what isn't correct are the harness connectors. They look like later HE items. The original connectors are small male connectors held into the injector sockets by by thin silicone rubber boots. The original connectors are prone to working loose and causing misfires because they depend upon the boots being in good condition. Mike.

There's a few issues here:

Bosch part number 0280150035 is theoretically correct for a pre-HE engine BUT....

..original 0280150035 injectors didn't look like that connection body. They had a raised ridge instead. As Mike says, they used a push-in wiring plug that fitted inside the body that was then covered with a rubber boot. See pic below of my pre-HE XJ-S showing one with the connector inserted and one with the rubber boot shroud fitted. I'm assuming you'll have similar connectors on your old wiring loom?
So, if your new injectors really have been built to 0280150035 specification, then you could use them. But you need a low-profile EV1-style connector. The ones you've shown in the picture seem to be EV1-type, but you either need a lower profile version (you can find them) or you'll need to carefully file off some of the plastic of the connector to get them to fit. This is an approach that some XJ-S owners have taken.

I assume you're fitting a new loom? (You really should). If so, you might want to consider whether you want to fit those injectors, or use an original-style loom and fit the original-type injectors?
