Fuel Tank Cap seals
Moderator:LJR
I have not posted for a while regarding my ailing XJ12 but I am back now. I eventually decided that my problem was not fuel but ignition related. I replaced various bits, then had a five hour wait for a recovery truck which gave me a chance to deduce that I had no spark at all. Some ballast resistors do not not like some rotor arms etc, so I bought a DAB113 and replaced everything. Starts easily, idles fine, revs fine but set off down the road and after a couple of miles she still loses power, didn't actually conk out today but only just made it up the slight incline back to my garage. I think my problem may be fuel related. Should have bought that Lancia instead.

Don't lose heart. We've all made diagnostic mistakes. That's how we learn! When you get it sorted you'll be able to appreciate what you're currently missing. These were and still are super cars to drive when they perform as Jaguar intended.
Earlier, you suspected a breather problem. Did you run with the fuel caps open to confirm or rule out that possibility? Mike.
