Wheel trims for Daimler XJ6
Moderator:LJR
I forgot to ask on my previous missive, can the chrome type wheel trims from the Series 1&2 cars fit on the Series 3? I've got the standard stainless items on my steel wheels but I really like the look of the older ones. If the answer is yes, my next question is obvious... anyone got some Daimler ones for sale? Regards, Steve Mac
Looking at my parts book it seems series 3 wheels have a different part number to series 1 and 2 wheels so I guess the chrome caps won't fit by the looks of the diagrams. It may be easier to find some used chrome wheels with all the caps from another Daimler or VDP model. I managed to find some for mine and they look much better! You may some on Ebay or in the club mag.

hi the series 1 and 2 steel wheels have studs for hub caps and the series 3 ones only use the bolts to hold the trims on apart from some daimlers which have different lugs holding the hub caps on. I do have some plain painted series 1 and 2 steel wheels if you need some. don.t try to fit series 3 trims on early wheels as you will end up with three prominent dents from the studs! don,t ask how I know! happy christmas

Thanks for the advice chaps. Had the Daimler running for 20 minutes today, it sounded lovely. I need a better cover though as it's a bit damp inside ( got a furry steering wheel-most unbecoming!).
1980 Daimler XJ 6 Sovereign 4.2, 1948 Riley RMB 2.5 (toonarf), 1972 VW Campervan Devon Conversion, 1991 Mazda MX 5, oh and a very boring 2001 VW Polo 1.0 for work & back. I reserve the right to impulse buy other unsuitable vehicles at my discretion.
furry steering wheel probably not the best addition! took my series3 to dad's in cornwall on new years eve which was fun in the ice! unfortunately had to bring his mondeo back which is totally rubbish in the snow so I am now using 4.0 xj40 auto which hasn,t quite got stuck yet but is tricky to stop on ice with abs! good luck everyone with this weather and the younger generation who haven,t a clue what to do in snow!
