Hello,
I need to know if a series 3 manual gearbox will fir into a series 2 car. Possibly converting from auto (BW65) to manual.
Thanks for any help
Transmission swap.

Re: Transmission swap.
The simple answer is yes. Just ensure you can get all the necessary items for the conversion. Things like the pedal boxes are becoming rarer to source these days, although I confess to having one which I tucked away for a conversion I will probably never get around to using!

Re: Transmission swap.
Yep did the swap on my series 2 xj a few years back. The fifth gear drops the revs nicely when at 70mph so no need to change the diff ratio.
As already mentioned you need a manual pedal box. The speedo drive on the series 3 manual box is the opposite side of the series 2 auto box. So you need a longer speedo cable made or use a series 3 electronic speedo and gearbox transducer. I went for the electronic speedo and transducer. To keep the dash gauges matching I also fitted a series 3 tachometer but fitted the series 2 bezels to match the smaller gauges. Bit of faff but it looks good once all complete.
