snapped studs

Postby gsbhoday » Thu Apr 09, 2020 3:37 pm

Hi all,

Im quite a junior member with only a year in the club. I lurk on these forums from time to time and the time has come for me to say hello to you all, so hello all! :D

In taking off some inlet and exhaust manifold studs, I've snapped a few and they're just not budging. One is snapped within the hole itself and nothing I do to it is removing it, so its time to leave it to the pros!

I live in Bedfordshire in a village 15 minutes away from Woburn and was wondering if anyone knew a travelling mechanic or machinist that could come and get these wretched things out.

The engine is on a movable crate I don't really have a pickup etc so taking it to a shop could be difficult, but not impossible.

Your help in this is greatly appreciated and I hope you're all keeping well through these turbulent times.

Hi gsbhoday,welcome to the Forums.
A quick internet search provided these results:

https://www.injector-removal-service.co.uk/

https://www.threaddoctorservicesltd.co.uk/index.php

https://www.threadsolutions.co.uk/

Would be nice to know which model XJ you have.
I was born in Bedford and grew up in Luton but moved to Devon in the 80's when I was 21.
Hope the links help a bit and good luck with the work.
Take care and stay safe. :)
Andy :)
