4.2 XJC 1977 Electric Fan???

Good morning,

I'm currently restoring a 1977 XJC 4.2.

May I have some advise on electric fans for radiator cooling.

My engine is being rebuilt as we speak with a rebuilt water pump along with an NAR 3 row radiator, it will also have new hoses etc.

Is there any advantage in the current viscous fan being removed and replaced with a "Kenlowe" type of thing, or even supplementary cooling via an electric fan.

I have looked at the various items from Revotec but there is not one for any of the XJ series. Is there a good reason for this?

It's accepted generally that modern electric cooling fans can do a better job than the original set-up but the differences aren't huge. Having seen some poor electric fan conversions, I would be very keen to satisfy myself that any mounting arrangements are up to a decent OE standard and not likely to cause more problems than they solve. Screwing fans on through radiator cores etc isn't the best of ideas for good long term reliability. Mike.
