Hi Wolfgang,
This is Jaguar's parts website for older vehicles:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/
Always start here to verify part numbers and prices, even if you eventually purchase elsewhere.
So, if you then select "Jaguar" and "XJS", it then takes you to an option of pre-facelift and facelift models:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.co ... rts-parts/
However, I know enough about XJS VIn to know that pre-facelift area is only really covering things from about 1987.
Also the part number search capability that you can use only works on these digitised part numbers for the models identified in the key index list.
I know enough about your engine situation to realise that it probably has parts from an earlier type of engine. So there's another area within the website. This covers the much older models with scanned parts diagrams, not digitised content. So I did a of digging here:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.co ... nformation
I then checked both the early 5.3 XJ-S and XJ12 parts diagrams. In the 5.3 XJ-S engine microfiche, I then found the page with piston numbers and eventually found your pistons here:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.co ... index.html
Once you get the hang of the site and content, (as I have over many years!) then it's an invaluable source of info.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul, I really appreciate your clarity, links, plus effort.
Even the Part Number RTC2689 (Plate on my Engine) is shown to equally demonstrate that what I have is a 10:1 engine - many thanks again.
Very kind regards
Wolfgang
