ignition key/door locking

I have a small intermittent problem when exiting/entering my car. Although I can hear the solonoids click when I push the remote, the doors don't unlock? It doesn't do it all the time but annoying when it does. If it happens when I'm in the car, I cant get out unless I push the button on the dash.

Any ideas?

I have replaced the batteries in both remotes

that sounds as if it could be a lazy actuator on the drivers door lock. If the drivers door doesn't unlock, it can stop the others unlocking. However, I was a it confused about why you are using the emote to unlock the car when you are in the car? Don't you just open the door using the internal door lever? are you saying that the car is not unlocking when you remove the key from the ignition?

I would try two things:

- first of all, check that the battery voltage is sound. A less than perfect battery can cause weird problems as we know

- remove the drivers door card and check the operation of the actuator and its wiring connection.

After that, I'm running out of ideas!

Thanks for getting back.
No I don't unlock the door with a key while in the car. I tried it because when I took the key from the ignition to exit the car, the handle on the door would not work. So I tried locking and unlocking the car while still in it to see if it released the handle. No joy so used the locking button on the dash.
The car had a new battery about 6 months ago, probably not getting enough charge however as I only do less than 1000 a year.

I will take the door card off next weekend and have a look see.

If the car has been unused for more than 3 weeks then the battery volts will be well down and doing 1000 miles a year may not recharge it without a long run. My car does very few miles and I have it on charge all the time on a CTEK intelligent charger. My battery is still the original on a 2007 car, there is nothing worse for lead acid batteries than leaving them in near flat condition. I know this from my ride on mower battery which I keep forgetting to charge over winter...dead in the spring and wont re charge.
