C2C36038

Water fell down on gear shift panel on my 2008 XJR, will now not shift out of Park.
Dealer proposes changing the unit.
I am looking at internet, finding various prices.
Anyone has a functioning C2C36038? My top panel is in good condition it is the function I am looking for.

Best regards

I would be tempted to strip it down and then reassemble it, not too difficult if you take it slowly, as likely some moisture in the connections. If that seems too drastic, just remove the trim to expose the mechanism and blow a hair dryer over it for a few minutes. Trim removal is pretty easy, plenty of videos on YouTube. If it’s a main dealer they are always going to say just replace it.
