Well actually it is possible to get more!
I watched an 03 plate silver XJR 350R with 140k miles go on ebay on Sunday evening for £2688! Good description with a fair providence and nice pictures in front of what appeared to be the sellers good looking house. That always bodes well. Good house owners usually have good cars. That can be a good indication leading towards the maintenance work a prospective car may have had.
See this months August 2016 JWM for an opinion of buying one of these cars for under £5K. My advice is to look carefully and have an overhaul fund available of around £3k to willingly be spent to zero time any faults. If you can spanner it yourself, then you can get a real stonker for £8k and know that having got a few bugs out, it could be one of the best around.
The X358 models are currently still demanding very high prices with the early cars slipping quite markedly in value unless low mileage or having some other reason for justifying really strong prices.
I`ve logged on to Trovit. As far as I`m concerned, this is is my favorite site to see what prices these cars are commanding and also to see the several times a day updates for the latest cars being placed on the market. The updates come through to my email which is very useful. You can unsubscribe at any time.
There has never been a better time to buy one of these amazing cars. At long last I have a car that totally satisfies my demands. For the money these cars represent probably the best bargains in the secondhand car sector. Many will shy away because of size and perceived running costs. Parts are no more expensive than any other car on our roads. Fuel economy with the smaller engined cars is impressive. Even the R will return 30mpg driven normally on the motorway. The best bit is the ali body resistance to corrosion on the underside. The underside is near perfect on mine even after twelve years on the road. However expect under body steel undertray fastenings to have corroded worse than the hull of the Titanic.
The 350/358 is a class act. I suggest that you would have to go to a Bentley to get better and you won`t get one of those on ebay for £2688!
