Does anybody know if the cassette player can be simply swapped for a single CD player, or is there a coding issue to overcome?

Hi I don't know the answer to your precise question but have you considered Jagdroid which will add Bluetooth streaming to your existing unit ? I have just done it to my Cd player in my XJ 350 and it works seemlessly
