Pssst!....Want some low priced quality engine oil, Guv?

I was wandering through town recently and decided to cut through the Wilkinsons (Wilko) store as a short cut to the car park. My meandering course took me past the motoring section. My eye fell on the oil display and to the 5-30W fully synthetic product. Spec`d to the correct Jaguar XJR specification, £16 buys you five litres. I needed seven litres plus a bit for an interim top up, so bought ten litres for £32. Bargain! My new K&N HP1014 oil filter came via the internet from Eurocarparts for £8.50. The total figure for the oil change came to about £37 which also included £5 for a can of Wynns Engine Oil flush which I`d picked up in Halfords previously.

The equivalent Halfords oil sells for around £25 for five litres as a comparison.

I`m fully committed to driving down my motoring costs at every opportunity. This is just one example of deals to be had if you keep your eyes open and on the prize.

Has anyone else any good cost saving tips to pass on?
