Hi, you might get a better response posting in the Interiors subdivision of the X308 section rather than the Archive subdivision of the Series XJ section. The Series XJs don't have blinds !

From the year quoted, the car should be an X350 (aluminium body), if so:Hi Guys,

Usually these just stick in the closed position through lack of use, so first of all get an assistant (a good looking female is best) to operate the control while you tug at the blind from the rear seat. If / when it frees, get your hand out of the way quickly!
