Retro fit heated steering wheel.

Postby merlinengine633 » Fri Apr 01, 2022 4:54 pm

Hi Guys,
Has anyone retro fitted a heated steering wheel to an X350? Any advice would be welcome please.

My car is a 2008 Sovereign 4.2 LWB.

When I ordered the car I went for most of the extras, 4 zone aircon, TV, DVD player with rear screens, rear multimedia,
rear electric blind and full size spare wheel.

Guess what? I didn't think to add a heated steering wheel to the list at that time.

Can anyone help please.

I think that would be quite a difficult thing to fit as suspect the wiring is not in place. Agree a good pair of gloves a better bet! I have had cars with heated steering wheels in the past and did not find it much use tbh.

A search of "12V heated gloves" provides even better ways to toast your pinkies! Most seem to be for motor cycles - not sure if they come with cigar lighters, so I suspect they'd need some effort to wire them up.

Paul, nice idea! Most current motorcycle ones come with a combined rechargeable battery pack and electronic temperature controller that will fit in a pocket, so no need to plug into the cigar lighter!
